These days, hiring a private investigator is as easy as sending an email or making a phone call.  Some people may feel that there might be trust issues when hiring an investigator through a website, but a quick check of their business credentials is all that is needed to make sure you know who you are dealing with.  If in doubt, ask for a personal meeting with the investigator to look at their identification first hand.  If you are not in the local area, run the private investigators licenses through their respective licensing departments.  Most states have a way to verify that a private investigator and the private investigation agency is properly licensed and experienced to help you  with your case.    All investigative agencies in Florida, for example, are licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS), Division of Licensing.   This Department has rules that each agency must abide by.  One of the rules is that a private investigator agency in Florida must provide it’s agency license number on all forms of advertising.  What this means is that the Florida Private Investigator agency website you visit must contain a license number that begins with the letter “A” followed by a series of numbers.  For example, license number A 2700431 belongs to Grey Ghost.  That license can be verified at the DOACS website.  What the DOACS site does not explain, however, is what the license means and what all the numbers mean after the letter “A.”   The “A” stands for  “Agency” and the 27 stands for the year the agency was established.  In this case, the agency was started in 2007.  Agencies that begin with A 10, A 11, or A 12, all began in 2010, 2011, and 2012 respectively.  This is important to some clients who want to know how long an agency has been in existence.   If  you were told the agency is ten years old, and their license start with “A 11,” then, frankly, they are not being truthful.  As of the writing of this post, they would have only been around for one year.

So now you have a little bit of knowledge of how hire a Florida private investigator by making sure that they are properly licensed.
